Lives In Portland (off peninsula)
I moved to Portland from NYC in 2005, and would not have left for anyplace else. I love the manageability of the city, that it only takes 15 minutes to get to the airport (and just a few minutes more to get through security), the constant flow and growth of the creative community, and -- most of all -- that anyone really can make a difference here.
Why did you choose Portland? After living in NYC for over 30 years, I was finally ready to be part of a smaller, friendlier, less stressful community that valued creativity and authenticity.
What do you like to do with out-of-towners? First Friday Art Walk, Kettle Cove, cocktail and restaurant hopping.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Longfellow Square. Don't ask me why.
What's the most surprising thing about this city? How many amazing, civically-active people there are.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Fois gras sushi at Miyake.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? 2 Degrees Portland events. Seriously, the best networking I've ever experienced anywhere. It's just a room full of lots of people whose only motivation for coming together is that they all care about strengthening Portland as a creative community.
I like creating images, telling stories, eating desserts, and helping people along the way. I also like boats.
