Lives In The West End

For work:

I've been a commercial photographer for more than a decade and worked in advertising, marketing, editorial, and e-commerce markets.I did a good deal of traveling early on in my life and visited many amazing places and met a lot of amazing people. I then decided to take a year of my life and become the general manager / innkeeper of the Pomegranate Inn located in the West End here in Portland, to really understand the guest / Innkeeper experience. With this knowledge, I now use my experience as an innkeeper and commercial photographer to help other hospitality businesses create captivating images and act as a creative consultant for effective marketing strategies.  http://www.henryfoto.com

For pleasure:

I really enjoy walking the streets of Portland and discovering things that I didn't notice the last time I walked by. I also enjoy trying new beers that appear on local taps and trying new restaurants. Making fresh seafood at home from the Harbor Fish Market. Watching the sunsets from Peaks Island or the Western Prom. Watching the sunrise on the Eastern Prom.

Why did you choose Portland? Maine was one of the only states in the contiguous United States I had never visited. I made an early fall, week long trip to Maine and went camping and visited Acadia, and then Portland. We fell in love with Portland instantly! We loved it's size, the architecture and culture of the city, and the people we met. We went home and packed our bags and relocated here one month later and did a winter rental on Peaks Island. It was a beautiful first experience living on the Island and taking the ferry every day. We have now lived in the West End for over a year and love it just as much!

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? The original natives who inhabited this amazing landscape.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? Make them seafood, take them to Peaks Island for hike, and return to the city for a tour, maybe the Art Museum, and several stops at local restaurants and pubs.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The entire peninsula brings me happiness, but I do enjoy early morning walks in the Western Cemetery.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? There are so many.... Aurora Provisions seems to have most readily available..

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Blue on Congress Street.
