Kevin Brooks

I'm a web developer who speaks design.

Job Principal / Kevin Brooks Web Design and Development

Lives In The West End

Since 2003, I’ve been working with agencies, independent designers and small businesses to create engaging, effective, award-winning desktop and mobile websites.

Every project I engage in benefits from years of experience in design, development and marketing strategy as well as a passion for staying on top of current trends and best practices in desktop and mobile design and development.

Why did you choose Portland? Initially, Portland was an afterthought on my list of places to go after college. I had my sights set on Boston with Portland as a 6-week layover. Once I was here, I couldn't see myself anywhere else.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? There's a spot on the Western Prom where I love to sit and watch all manner of traffic converge. Cars cross the Fore River, planes land at PWM, Amtrak trains run by and boats come and go in an oddly quiet way.

What's the most surprising thing about this city? Growing up in Lewiston, I visited "Portland" often (really we went the mall a lot, which I now realize is in South Portland). When I landed here, I arrogantly assumed I knew Portland well. After many years of living here, I'm happy to say Portland still surprises me. I'm still discovering new favorite spots and new favorite people. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? A dozen oysters, three lobster rolls and a dirty dirty martini at Eventide ranks number 1 on the list. Bacon Tempura at Nosh lands number 2 quite easily (especially when prepared Elvis style).

Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. The nights are about good food and great cocktails with friends and the mornings are equally special as the brunch options in Portland do not disappoint. Whether it's a late Saturday morning spent at Local 188 with an Irish Coffee and a Chorizo Breakfast Burrito or a Sunday at Caiola's with their Warm Lost Bread and homemade pop tarts, you'll be given plenty of fuel for the rest of your day (or plenty of reason to nap depending on the night before).
