Rob works as a consultant to agencies, brands, and individuals. He has 20 years of marketing experience. He is director of pr/communications for TEDxDirigo. From 2005-2011, Rob served as director of social media & agency communications at The VIA Agency. Prior to VIA, Rob worked with PR & advertising agencies in London & Boston. His real-life interests include art, travel, writing, design, psychology, the beach, & exercise (grudgingly at times). He likes to talk. Some people like him.
Why did you choose Portland? I chose Maine in order to save my life. It was a great decision for me. Life is important.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why? John Coleman (VIA) - He's an idea explosion. And, his ideas aren't stuck in Portland. Chelsea H.B. DeLorme - She's a connector. More important, she's really smart. And, really nice. Mark Bessire (PMA) - An invaluable asset to the arts community in Portland. Sean Wilkinson (Might & Main) - His design makes Portland more beautiful. He throws a great party. He has a great fiance. It's the total package. Linda & John Meyers (Wary Meyers) - Their work is incredible and they are so unassuming about it. Most important, they are very nice people. I'm a huge fan.
What do you like to do with out-of-towners? It really depends on the guest(s). I can tell you that people really love visiting Portland.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Arabica, Crema and my bed.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Red velvet cake at Two Fat Cats bakery on India Street. I try not to find it very often.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Local 188.
