I collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and the community to make and keep USM environmentally sustainable
Job Asst. Director for Sustainable Programs / University of Southern Maine
Lives In East End
I work across the three USM campuses to coordinate sustainability initiatives and advise the university community on the best ways to decrease overall environmental impact.
My responsibilities include overseeing environmentally sensitive waste management and reduction practices, recommending sustainable building and renovation projects and materials, investigating alternative transportation options, educating and developing appropriate programing for students, staff, and community members, reporting greenhouse gas emissions and implementation of USM's Climate Action Plan, mobilizing the USM community, and thematic oversight of university operations to ensure economic and environmental sustainability.
I have a BA in Environmental Studies from Bucknell University and began in the field as the Sustainability Coordinator for Dining Services (Aramark) here at the University of Southern Maine.
I'm an avid bicycle advocate and bike commuter. I regularly volunteer around the Portland area and I'm also interested in urban landscapes and gardening and am involved with the Resilience Hub and Permaculture Meetup Group. Live music is another personal hobby and I enjoy supporting Portland and visiting musicians by attending diverse types of performances around the area.
